I’m Vidoula Uckiah, Principal Consultant at Vision Consulting & Mediation.
Over more than two decades, my career has taken me across international corporate environments, government, healthcare and community settings, working across workforce and people, strategy, governance, organisational transformation, program delivery, law and dispute resolution.
That breadth has given me the opportunity to experience organisations from very different perspectives — from governance, policy and strategic decision-making through to implementation, workplace relationships and the realities experienced by people on the ground.
While the settings and roles have varied, the thread connecting them has remained consistent: understanding how organisations work, how their different parts influence one another and what enables them to fulfil their purpose.
Today, I bring those perspectives together through Vision Consulting & Mediation, working with leaders to make sense of complexity, connect the different dimensions influencing a situation and shape practical ways forward.
My career has developed across disciplines that are often considered separately. In practice, each provides a different perspective on the same organisational reality.
Law and governance bring an understanding of parameters, accountability, evidence and how decisions need to withstand scrutiny. Strategy and workforce planning connect organisational purpose with the people, capability and structures needed to deliver it. Transformation and program delivery bring the discipline of turning intent into action. Mediation and facilitation bring an understanding of relationships, perspectives, trust and the human dynamics that influence whether change can take hold.
Working across these disciplines has taught me not to look at organisational issues through a single lens. What presents as a workforce issue may also involve governance, strategy, relationships or organisational design. What appears to be conflict may be influenced by unclear roles, competing priorities, structural pressures or change elsewhere in the system.
My role is not to assume that everything is connected, but to know where to look, what questions to ask and how to connect the dots when it matters.
This helps me work with leaders to develop responses that consider risk and opportunity, people and purpose, governance and practical reality — and that can work in the organisation as it actually exists.
Perspective shaped from inside different systems.
My perspective has been shaped by working inside organisations with very different purposes, operating environments and accountabilities.
My perspective has also been shaped by living and working across different countries and cultures, including the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Australia.
Working across European, British and Australian environments has exposed me to different legal, organisational and cultural contexts and influenced how I listen, communicate and approach different perspectives.
I am multilingual, speaking Dutch, English and French. Moving between languages and cultures has reinforced something equally relevant to my work: people can experience the same situation differently, and understanding those perspectives can be an important part of finding common ground.
Alongside my professional work, I have a longstanding commitment to community service through Lions International (Australia), including leadership roles within my local club and the wider Lions International (Australia) organisation.
For me, volunteering is an opportunity to contribute beyond professional practice, working alongside others, strengthening community and putting service into action.
That experience also keeps me connected to something fundamental to my professional work: organisations and institutions ultimately exist in service of people and communities, and leadership carries a responsibility to contribute, steward and leave things stronger for those who follow.
